There are two different types of waves, mechanical and electromagnetic. Mechanical wave need a medium to travel through to transfer energy. Electromagnetic don’t need a medium to transfer energy. Waves have different dimensions to define the frequency of the wave. Waves are measured by there crest and trough(the height of the wave). They are also measured by its wave length(the distance between the crests in the wave). Another measurement is measuring the frequency, how to do this is measuring the amount of waves in a given amount of time. All The measurements will define the wave.
